Music
speaks louder than a review: Meghan Trainor
Many of our most dedicated fans have always urged us
Coddis to give the world unprecedented access to not only our own music, but
how we feel about other artist’s music too. So what greater way to answer our
fans deepest desires than to review our favourite artist of all time’s new
album!
People say that history can’t repeat itself, but
Meghan Trainor completely split that theory in half, as the release of her
second studio album Thank You in May
has proven to be just as fire as her 2015 debut album Title.
Pop music is forever changing, and Meghan (yes,
we’re on a first name basis) seems to not only have a firm grip on trends, but
is able to hold fast to her own doo-wop inspired style to present to her fans a
album full of nostalgic lyrics and catchy melodies.
From ballads, to dance tracks, and everything in
between, Meghan’s versatility is the flour to this magnificent cake. “Kindly
Calm Me Down” leads the charge of such ballads, with love songs like “Hopeless
Romantic” and “Just a Friend to You” showing a softer side to the confident and
edgy forward that Meghan promotes. But just as the album has it’s fair share of
ballads, there is a plethora of fun, danceable songs on show. Tracks like “I
Won’t Let You Down”, “Dance Like Yo Daddy” and “Thank You” restore balance to
the slow side, and ooze self-assurance and confidence.
This album is arguably one of the greatest albums of
all time, and still leaves us Coddis speechless each time we listen to it (every
night before bed). This album seems to hold the answer to all the world’s
deepest problems, yet we are still left with one question burning in our souls
– is there anything that Meghan Trainor can’t do?
